Tarot Card of the Day

Ace of Coins (Deck: Tarot of the Divine by Yoshi Yoshitani)

The Ace of Coins is about new beginnings in the material world. The material world includes your possessions, your job, your money, and your health. So maybe something new is coming your way. New job or business opportunity, or unexpected funds. It may signify a move, or prompt you to rearrange the furniture in your house for a face-lift. Maybe it’s time to change your habits, try a new dietary lifestyle like Vegetarian or Paleo. You may even try one of those meal delivery services that sends you the ingredients and you make the dinner. Add a walk or short exercise routine to your day. There is so much potential here! I know in this deck the suit is called Coins, so you may think it’s all about money, but in other decks it’s called Pentacles and it’s about everything in your material world, not just money!

In the Tarot of the Divine deck, the Ace of Coins is represented by the familiar English fairy tale Jack and the Beanstalk. We all know the story. The family cow stops giving milk, so Jack is sent to sell the cow at the market. Along the way he runs into a man who offers him a magic bean in exchange for the cow. Jack agrees, and proudly takes the magic bean home to his mother who is livid and throws the bean out the window. Overnight it grows into a huge beanstalk that goes up into the sky. Jack climbs it and steals treasures from a giant. The giant comes after him, but Jack is so quick he climbs down and chops down the beanstalk while the giant is still climbing and the giant falls to his death. Jack and his mother live happily ever after. I don’t condone stealing or killing, but this is a fairy tale, so anything goes, and they did live happily ever after. So did the end justify the means? I don’t think so. Jack should’ve found some other way to profit from his climb to the land of the giants. But unfortunately, fairy tales are full of disreputable ways to live happily ever after.

Try something new today! I made some suggestions above. The best way to add something to your day is to tie it to something you already do. I already brush my teeth every night, so I tied my skin care routine to that, now it takes 5 minutes more to do my bedtime routine, but my skin is thanking me for the attention. Another very Coin-related activity is starting a budget. Do you have a budget for your expenses? Do you track your expenses to see where all your money goes? Try it for a month and you may be surprised. I use a spreadsheet on google, but you can use a spreadsheet, notebook, phone app, anything that works. Be responsible with your resources and you will be sent more.
