Tarot Card of the Day

4 of Pentacles (Deck: Light Seer’s Tarot by Chris-Anne)

The 4 of Pentacles is the “save your pennies” card. A woman sits holding her purse close to her, away from the city and the markets within it. When this card comes up in a reading, I tell my client to be careful with their spending, not buying anything frivolous, only spending money on basics for survival. This is good advice for everyone. We never know when we’re going to lose our job, or our housing, or have a medical emergency not covered by insurance. Indiscriminate spending, even when you’re prosperous, is never wise. If you’re doing well financially, save that money, or invest carefully. Or stock up on things that leave the shelves fast when there’s an emergency (pandemic!) like toilet paper and foods with long expiration dates. When you do buy necessities, or stock up on them, do it when they’re on sale, and buy as much as you think you’ll need for a year. If you lack storage space, get creative. Under the bed is a great place for storage. and any empty space in your closets. I could actually go on about this particular subject for quite a while, but I think you get the idea. Be a saver, not a spender. I know it’s the holidays, and everybody is spending money on gifts left and right, but make those gifts thoughtful and useful. And people love handmade gifts! They’re precious and sentimental and appreciated more than you would think.

What can you do today to change your mindset from spender to saver? Find storage space in your house? Put some money in a savings or investment account? Make a list of necessities that you can stock up on next time they’re on sale? Be wise with your money, you don’t know when you’re going to lose it!
