Tarot Card of the Day

4 of Swords (Deck: Light Seer’s Tarot by Chris Anne)

The 4 of Swords is about rest, meditation, and regrouping. The swords suit is about battle and conflict and heartbreak. The 4 of Swords gives us a break from all that and tells us to rest and recuperate before going back into battle. The woman in this card is curled up in a large nest. My bed is my nest, which is probably true for alot of us, but so is my recliner, and my floor cushion where I meditate. There are many ways to rest that will rejuvenate you. My favorite is meditation. There are SO many different ways to meditate, so if you try one and it doesn’t work for you, either stick with it for a while and see if it gets better, or try something else. Meditation is amazing and it’s free! Sleep is also free and essential to your well-being. Getting enough sleep at night in crucial to your physical and mental health. Sleep is NOT overrated like I used to say when I was young and spry. Sleep is important. If you have trouble falling asleep, start a bedtime routine that tells your body you’re about to rest. Take a bath, put on your PJ’s, put on some soothing music, say 3 things you’re grateful for out loud (I talk about this in other posts), pray if you pray, and then go to bed. Seems simple, but if you program your brain to know that this is preparation for bed, you’ll sleep better. Also, take what I call “down time” during the day when needed. Just sit or lay down and close your eyes and breathe. Concentrate on your breathing. It’s a form of meditation, but not formal. It’s more of a casual meditation, if there is such a thing. But I do this anytime I’m feeling overwhelmed and need to shut down for a few minutes.

What can you do today to take a break from your busy day and relax? Do you have a bedtime routine that is the same every day? Start one! Now is not too late to start, no matter how old you are.
