Tarot Card of the Day

2 of Swords (Deck: Tarot of the Divine by Yoshi Yoshitani)

With the 2 of Swords, you have 2 choices placed before you. Both double-edged swords. How do you choose? Especially when there are significant pros and cons to both. Each will take you down a different path and lead to a different life. First of all, look at your priorities. What is most important to you? Self-care, family, work, education? What is top of your priority list? I have a tarot spread that considers all paths and gives insight on each, and I use that sometimes. But for the most important decisions, I look at my priorities and then meditate. What would be best for my mental and physical health? What would be best for my family? Those are my priorities, what are yours?

The 2 of Swords in the Tarot of the Divine deck is represented by Sita of the Ramayana, an Indian Hindu epic. The beautiful mortal girl Sita is admired by and married an immortal named Rama. At the end of their story he questions her loyalty. She has to choose whether to be banished as his wife or step into a fire to prove her purity. She chooses to step into the fire and is unharmed, so she remains wife to Rama. What a terrible choice to give one’s wife! Many of the stories in this book that goes with the tarot deck are quite intense. They have been passed down through generations and meant to tell a story and teach a lesson. What lesson do you think we can learn from this?

When faced with difficult choices, we have many options to help us choose. Tarot, meditation, prayer, priorities, talking to a wise relative or friend. Getting an objective opinion from someone who is not emotionally invested in the decision can also be helpful. I hope all your choices lead to happy endings, and if not, that you learn from the experience.
