19 The Sun (Deck: Tarot of the Divine by Yoshi Yoshitani)
The Sun is a strong positive energy card providing enlightenment and joy, optimism and enthusiasm. The sun is the source of all natural light on Earth. It makes the plants grow, which then give us oxygen to breath and food to eat. It brings warmth to keep us from freezing. It lights up our days with its brilliant yellow light, and even reflects back to us on the moon at night. You have probably heard the phrase “You are the light of my life.” This is a compliment of the highest degree. This is like saying “You are my Sun,” or “You are my Life.” When we draw the Sun card, we can expect a joyful day full of positive enlightenment.
The Sun in this deck is represented by the Sun God Ra. He was first and foremost among the Egyptian deities, and all other sprang from him. He ruled the heavens and the Earth until he grew tired and passed the ruling of the Earth to the humans. He still rules the heavens, passing over the Earth to bring it light, then traveling through the underworld by night to rise again the next day.
I hope this is a “Sun” day for all of you! Be happy and joyful in all that you do, and bask in the light of the sun, no matter how cloudy or rainy it is. Just appreciate the sun and all its glory!
