Tarot Card of the Day 1/3/22

The Fool (Deck: Tarot of the Divine by Yoshi Yoshitani)

Happy New Year and Welcome to 2022! I have a special treat for you this year. I received a new deck for Christmas that I am excited to share with you. Tarot of the Divine by Yoshi Yoshitani. It’s a beautiful deck based on fairy tales, myths, and divine stores from all over the world. I have saved it for sharing with you, so I will be learning the deck as we go as well. Each day I will draw a random card from the deck until we have covered all 78 cards. However, today I chose the Fool card, as all Tarot journeys should begin with the Fool.

The Fool represents new beginnings, taking a chance, moving forward even if you aren’t sure exactly where your steps will take you. You just feel called to make the journey and you go forth with surety that it will be a grand adventure. Some people think he’s naive, but I prefer to see him as adventurous and curious, ready to learn what there is to know out there in the world.

The Fool card in this deck is presented as The Little Mermaid. Not Disney’s version, though. She falls in love with the prince, trades her voice for legs, but the prince doesn’t fall in love with her and she turns into sea foam. Not a happy ending. But she tried. She made the leap of faith and tried. It didn’t turn out well for her, just as it will not always turn out well for us. Sometimes we leap and we fly, sometimes we leap and we fall. It’s all part of life.

And we learn a lesson either way. Every lesson is valuable. I like to say “Failure is just an opportunity for learning.” Most of our failures won’t end up as extreme as the Little Mermaid. We will learn our lesson and move on. So go out and make that leap of faith, take that chance, go on the adventure, and see where it will take you and what you will learn.
