Tarot Card of the Day

2 of Cups (Deck: Tarot of the Divine by Yoshi Yoshitani)

The 2 of Cups is about our close relationships. Your spouse, your lover, your best friend. It reminds us to nurture that relationship, and to remember relationships go through phases. A marriage or romantic relationship may not always be full of passion and energy. It may have it’s quiet moments when things are just comfortable. And that’s ok! Also keep in mind that relationships cycle through times that one partner is more needy than the other. And that’s ok too! One partner may be having problems and need support from the other. Then later the table turns and the other partner needs more support. We can’t always give 100% of our time and attention to our relationships, we have other responsibilities and needs in our lives. Just give it your best when you can, and accept the help when you need it.

The 2 of Cups in the Tarot of the Divine deck is represented by the Sumerian myth Enkidu and Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh was a king who was born 1/3 immortal and had no equal in strength and power on Earth. He was so demanding, his people asked the gods for help. Anu sent Enkidu, a being with the power of an untamed beast, to defeat Gilgamesh. The two wrestled for days, but Gilgamesh finally overcame Enkido. Gilgamesh was so impressed by the other man that the two became inseparable friends. Unfortunately, Gilgamesh made the mistake of insulting Ishtar, who had Anu send a bull to kill him, but Gilgamesh killed the bull instead. In revenge, Anu killed Enkido. Gilgamesh was heartbroken, and decided to seek immortality for himself. He failed and returned to earth a more mature man and accepted his mortality.

Valentines Day is fast approaching. Do you have a sweetheart? If so, give your relationship some attention. It doesn’t have to be fancy or extravagant. Just show your love to them in a way they will understand and appreciate. Use their love language, not yours. If you don’t have a sweetheart, then pamper yourself in some way. Give yourself some love.
